Getting
to know us
Ed Hendricks, owner and president of Hendricks Pianos, established his company in Downers Grove, Illinois, in September 1974. He has been deeply involved in the piano industry for 40-plus years, first as Piano Division Manager for Lyon-Healy's 17 Chicago-area stores. Subsequently, at the invitation of Henry Steinway, then president of Steinway & Sons, Ed Hendricks joined the Steinway firm as Director of Marketing, with offices at the factory in Long Island, New York. In that capacity, he had daily contact with every phase of the manufacturing process. He used the knowledge gained to market the famous piano on a national level.
The company opened as Hendricks Keyboards with Yamaha pianos, and the Yamaha brand continues to be its principle line. An additional line, Pearl River, offers both grand and vertical pianos with many styles and finishes. It has been added to give customers the best mid-priced value in the Pearl River and Ritmuller brand names. Ed Hendricks carefully scrutinized the designs, material specifications and features of these pianos. All pianos the company sells must meet very strict quality standards, because Hendricks has achieved a large percentage of sales through the recommendations of people in the musical community and of other satisfied customers. Ed Hendricks' personnel also catch his enthusiasm and respect for his pianos and pass it along to the customer. Ed Hendricks listens and benefits from the input of musicians, technicians, and educators in order to achieve the best results for his customers, whether they are purchasing a new piano or rebuilding an old one. People throughout the Piano Industry respect Hendircks as a dean of the piano business. Dealers from all over the country call him to discuss their piano operations, and he enjoys nothing so much as talking about pianos. The Concert & Artist Service Department keeps Hendricks in close touch with piano happenings around the Chicagoland area. A nine foot concert grand, as well as grands of smaller size, stand ready for concert rental to visiting pianists, orchestras, recording studios, television shows and an assortment of events. Yamaha Corporation has appointed Hendricks Pianos as their Concert and Artist Services representative for the Chicagoland area. The Service Center Showroom presents a new concept in piano retailing. All Yamaha, Pearl River and Ritmuller models stand displayed in the same large showroom, in their various furniture styles and finishes. Hendricks has the largest display of Yamaha pianos in the Midwest under one roof. All necessary and unique services that pianos require can be done in the same building. Highly qualified technicians and a skilled furniture craftsman are on board Monday through Friday. The technical shop and the furniture refinishing shop are close at hand. A complete inventory of grand and vertical pianos, warehoused on the premises, expedite prompt delivery. The company goal is not only to amaze the customers with beautiful pianos, but also to impress them with complete quality and service.
